For over 30 years, Durham Regional Hospital has been
committed to caring for residents of Durham and the surrounding
communities. Our employees devote time, money and lots of
energy to causes throughout this community – because this is
where we live, too. We’re your friends and your neighbors, and
our commitment to caring extends far beyond the hospital walls
by giving back and through sponsorships. We also have an active volunteer program.
Giving Back
Durham Regional Hospital is proud to be a part of our
community. We give back by partnering with a number of
charitable organizations. Here are a few of the organizations
we have supported this year.
North Carolina Food Bank- Employees donated
hundreds of pounds of food, in addition to 100 frozen turkeys,
to the North Carolina Food Bank. These items will be used to
operate food pantries, group homes, after-school programs, soup
kitchens, shelters, elderly nutrition programs and day
cares.
Salvation Army- In December, Durham
Regional employees adopted 150 angels form the Salvation Army
Angel Tree Program. Boys and girls in the Durham community
awoke to gifts, including more than 30 bikes, dozens of dolls
and plenty of warm, new clothes thanks to the generous
donations of our employees.
Triangle United Way- Durham Regional
employees donated over $67,000 to the Triangle United Way this
Fall. The Triangle United Way uses the money for various
programs in the community such as donations to the John Avery
Boys and Girls Club, computer literacy programs and others.
American Heart Association- Durham Regional
raised more than $14,200 for the American Heart Association's
Triangle Heart Walk to prevent and treat heart
disease.
Durham Regional is proud to sponsor:
Durham Bulls Baseball- Durham Regional is
once again sponsoring the World's Largest Jersey for the 2007
Durham Bulls Baseball season. At every game, visitors to the
park can sign the jersey for $1. The money raised will be
donated to Durham Regional's Special Care Nursery. The hospital
is also featured throughout the season with entertaining
stroller derbies and at diaper changing stations. An
end-of-season jersey auction will be held on August 24,
2008.
Museum of Life and Science- Durham Regional
is proud to sponsor "Investigate Health!" Visitors will have
the chance to:
- Run a crash test simulation to discover why experts
recommend booster seats for children
- Prove hand washing does remove germs
- Use a camera that shows how sunscreen reflects UV
light
- Study live dust mites, a common cause of allergies
- Experiment with relaxation techniques

Radio One's Take a Loved One to the Doctor

the health of the community, Durham Regional participated in
Radio One's "Take a Loved One to the Doctor Day" on April 8,
