At Durham Regional Hospital, we want to provide the best care for every patient, every time. To meet this goal and better serve the needs of our community, we regularly renovate the hospital and purchase new equipment.

Main lobby
Renovations for a new registration area in the main lobby began in early 2013. The new space will make it easier for our patients and their loved ones to register and navigate our facility, particularly same-day admissions, cath lab and endoscopy patients. Due to the renovations, the coffee and gift shops in the main lobby have temporarily closed. (The cafeteria, located on the 1st floor, has coffee and snacks for sale.) The coffee and gift shops will reopen in renovated spaces in June.
Women's Services (including Labor and Delivery and Mother/Baby)
Renovations to Women's Services began in February 2012. In July 2012, a new reception desk opened to help with patient registration and visitor access to the units as well as offer increased security. The renovated Mother/Baby Unit opened in January 2013, featuring upgrades to patient rooms, the nursing station and support areas. Renovations are underway in Labor and Delivery. While Labor and Delivery is under construction, patients and their loved ones will stay on the Mother/Baby Unit, where they can enjoy the upgraded rooms and amenities. Renovations are expected to be complete in late summer 2013.
