Pardon Our Progress
At Durham Regional Hospital, we want to provide the best care for every patient, every time. To meet this goal and better serve the needs of our community, we regularly renovate the hospital and purchase new equipment.

Emergency Department
Our Emergency Department is getting a new entrance, waiting area, and triage space. During the renovations, security screening, registration, waiting, and triage areas for the Emergency Department have moved to a temporary modular unit next to the hospital. We have also increased security in the Emergency Department to make sure our patients and their loved ones are safe when visiting Durham Regional. The project will be finished in summer 2012.
Women's Services (including Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby)
Renovations to Women's Services began in February 2012. Phase I of the project is complete. Phase II includes renovations to patient rooms, the nursing station, and support areas on Unit 4-3 (Mother/Baby). Due to the renovations, patients will be located on Unit 4-1. When finished in spring 2013, Women's Services will feature a new registration area, upgraded patient rooms with new furniture and amenities, and updated finishes throughout.
Outpatient Services (including Radiology and Imaging Services, and Pre-Operative Testing)
Construction has begun for our new outpatient services entrance and pre-op clinic. This area will open in late 2012, and will provide dedicated registration, parking, and waiting areas in one place for outpatient services. Our new pre-op clinic will provide one stop for blood work and other tests before surgery.
