Help make Durham Regional Hospital a safe place. Please read and follow these safety and security instructions.
Medications
All medications you take while in the hospital are prescribed by your doctor, dispensed by the hospital pharmacy, and administered by a nurse. Patients are not permitted to administer their own drugs or keep personal medications at their bedsides, unless ordered by their physician.
Security
The security services department helps maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and employees throughout the hospital. Officers provide around-the-clock security and respond to calls for assistance.
Please call any time to talk with us about any safety concerns or questions -- your voice and opinion matter.
- Emergency: Dial 222 from any phone in the hospital
- Non-Emergency: Call the Durham Regional Hospital operator at 919-470-4000 and ask for security
Valuable or Lost Items
Patients are asked not to bring items of value to the hospital. The hospital is not responsible for items of value unless they are given to us to place in the hospital safe for safekeeping.
Smoking
Durham Regional Hospital, along with all Duke Medicine facilities and other Triangle health care institutions, is 100 percent tobacco free. Use of tobacco products is prohibited on our campus. This initiative applies to all employees, physicians, volunteers, visitors, patients, and vendors.
For the comfort of our other patients and visitors, please do not block the entrances to the hospital.
