Anesthesiology

Regional Anesthesia, PLLC, a private anesthesia practice, provides more than 13,000 anesthesia services annually at Durham Regional Hospital and Davis Ambulatory Surgical Center. The RA care team, of 11 Anesthesiologists and 35 Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), provides the complete components of quality assurance to all consumers of anesthesia services. The practice has special expertise in the delivery of anesthesia for the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and LapBand procedures and works closely with the Weight Loss Surgery team. We provide personalized care for each of our patients, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, external beam radiotherapy via linear accelerator and brachytherapy specifically for prostate cancer. Rheumatology
Painful swollen joints could be a symptom of rheumatic disease. There are more than 100 rheumatic conditions, including all forms of arthritis, certain autoimmune diseases (for instance, systemic lupus), musculoskeletal pain disorders and osteoporosis. These diseases can affect virtually any part of the body, and are almost always accompanied by pain and symptoms that affect a person’s ability to perform daily activities. Our rheumatologists are here to diagnose these acute and chronic conditions, and work with each patient to develop an individualized treatment program. There are exciting medications available for arthritis and our rheumatologists have an active clinical trials program for treatment not yet generally available.
