When you arrive at the hospital to give birth, proceed to the fourth floor and check in at our registration desk.

For your comfort and safety, no more than three people are allowed in the birthing room at one time.
Other family members and friends are welcome to relax in our comfortable, newly renovated waiting area located near the elevators.

Our comfortable delivery suites allow you to deliver your baby in a cozy, home-like atmosphere, with necessary medical equipment hidden behind wood paneling and furniture until needed.

Four of our delivery suites have whirlpool tubs for relaxation during labor.

Durham Regional has two dedicated operating rooms for C-sections within the labor and delivery unit.

After the birth of your baby, the two of you will be moved to one of our newly renovated Mother/Baby rooms on The Birth Place.
Soothing color schemes, furnishings and handpicked artwork were specially chosen with comfort in mind while offering the perfect setting to bond with your newborn.

The Mother/Baby unit is now equipped with a self-service kitchenette that offers new parents access to a refrigerator, ice and a microwave.

Should your baby arrive a little ahead of schedule, The Birth Place has an 18-bed level II special care nursery staffed by Duke neonatologists.
This nursery provides care for at-risk, acutely ill, and convalescing infants as early as 32 weeks of gestation.

The Birth Place at Durham Regional Hospital has an expert staff of community obstetricians, Duke obstetricians, neonatologists, midwives, and some of the most experienced nurses around.
