Professional Nursing Assistant (PNA) Program
Durham Regional Hospital’s summer Professional Nursing Assistant (PNA) Program offers senior level nursing students the opportunity to work for a summer at one of the finest health systems in the world, Duke University Health System. This exciting opportunity for employment will bring you one step closer to realizing your nursing career goals.
This unique 10-week program begins in early June. Exceptional opportunities included within this program are a paid 8 hour shadowing experience to a clinical area of choice, assigned RN preceptors, and a special reception in your honor.
You will also be encouraged to develop life-long friendships as well as positive mentoring relationships. The PNA is offered a scholarship toward their next school year if they return to Durham Regional Hospital to continue their nursing careers.
Durham Regional Hospital offers PNA II positions. The scope of these positions is consistent with that of the Nursing Care Assistant II.
As a PNA II at Durham Regional Hospital, your scope of practice will be that of a Nurse Aide (NA). In the state of North Carolina, all NAs must be listed as such with the NC Division of Facility Services, as well as with the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
