The Emergency Department at Durham Regional Hospital provides prompt, expert care for acutely ill and injured patients with the compassion and convenience of a community hospital.

After going through security, patients and visitors will visit the new Check-in Desk. This is where patients can communicate their symptoms and visitors can give the name of a friend or loved one they are visiting.

Patients and visitors may wait in our newly renovated waiting area. This airy, open space is equipped with televisions, magazines, vending machines and more.

After checking in, patients move to one of our newly renovated triage rooms for evaluation.

Acute, or very sick patients, will move to the newly renovated acute triage bay for evaluation.

If further care is needed and once a room becomes available, patients are treated in one of our Emergency Department patient rooms.
